I discovered Nia after an exhaustive search for an exercise routine I could do following an extensive surgery to remove cancer that had eaten through muscle in my back and my rib cage. You name the form of exercise and I have probably tried it in my quest to regain my health and movement.
When I found Nia, I truly got my life back both physically and emotionally. I am virtually pain free, much of the scar tissue both internally and externally has been alleviated and in many ways I am moving better now than I was before the surgery.
Nia is a pleasurable fitness class in which dance arts, martial arts and healing arts are used to invigorate the mind, body, emotions and spirit. Nia is geared towards all ages and all physical abilities. In practicing Nia you fall in love with being and moving in your body – you experience the power of Self-Healing. Nia empowers you to make your own movement choices by offering a flexible structure you can personally modify to suit your needs. The blueprint of Nia is practical, experiential, and focuses on internal guidance to change and develop awareness.
If you’re getting the idea that Nia is about play and loving movement, you’re right! Join me. Let your body move, your heart sing, and your spirit soar to dance this most exquisite dance of life called Nia.
Through this incredible mind, body, spirit practice, I have been led to holistic health and healing. I’m a Traditional Naturopathic Doctor, Licensed Massage Therapist, Touch for Health Practitioner, Herbalist and Energy Medicine Practitioner: Reiki, Polarity and Therapeutic Touch.
